uswondedwarriorsfoundationThe US Wounded Soldiers Foundation was formed by Teresa Goforth. “We have taken our heroes under our wings for the sacrifice they have made fighting for our freedom”. When Teresa began flying the Military Troop Transports in March 2003. During   layover time in Germany, she  inquired into the needs of the wounded at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

She discovered wounded warriors arrived at this hospital sometimes with very little  clothes on their back. Soldiers are only issued 2 sets of fatigues and no civilian clothes. The Government issues a PX voucher for those transferred  to US hospitals, but immediate items are needed for them to be comfortable during their rehabilitation in Germany.

A distribution room was set up by the Chaplain at the hospital for the patients to select clothing and toiletries when they are admitted. They are also assisting The Fisher House located next to the hospital, which is similar to our Ronald McDonald House, this is a place for the military families of critically wounded patients to stay free while visiting their loved ones, and a place for the out patients to stay while receiving care.

The mission of the US Wounded Soldier Foundation is to provide for the needs of our combat veterans deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s their way of saying, ‘Thank You’ for their dedication and loyalty to the United States and the citizens they have pledged their lives to protect.
